THE APP IN YOUR HEAD

You’ve had the app idea long enough.

Build the app you’ve carried for years - even if you’ve never coded.

A practical, encouraging guide that takes you from ‘There has to be a better way’ to a clear plan, a working first version and something real people can use.

Work through 30 focused Builder Sessions, use AI as your building partner, and learn the thinking that remains valuable even when the tools change.

Who this book is for

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

You noticed something that should be easier.

A booking process. A repeated task. A problem in your business. Something people constantly forget, misunderstand or do the hard way.

You thought, ‘There has to be a better way.’

Then came the app idea.

But instead of building it, you told yourself:

‘I’m not technical enough.’

‘I don’t know how to code.’

‘I wouldn’t know where to begin.’

So the idea stayed in your head.

This book is for business owners, teachers, parents, artists, volunteers, professionals and everyday problem-solvers who understand a real problem - but have never considered themselves software builders.

YOU DO NOT NEED:

  • A computer science degree
  • Previous coding experience
  • A team of developers
  • A perfect business plan
  • Permission to begin

You need a problem you care about, an idea worth exploring and a willingness to take the next small step.

If you have ever said, ‘I’ve had an app idea for years,’ this book was written for you.

What you’ll learn and build

FROM AN IDEA IN YOUR HEAD TO SOMETHING REAL

This is not a book about becoming a programmer.
It is a book about becoming someone who builds.

Across 30 focused Builder Sessions, you’ll move through the complete journey from identifying the right problem to putting a working first version in front of real people.

1.

THINK LIKE A BUILDER

Find the problem worth solving, understand who you are solving it for and make your idea small enough to finish.

2.

DESIGN YOUR APP

Decide what your first version actually needs, remove unnecessary features and turn the idea into a clear, practical build plan.

3.

BUILD WITH AI

Learn how to work with AI as a capable partner - giving it context, asking better questions, reviewing what it creates and solving problems without needing to understand every line of code.

4.

LAUNCH, LISTEN AND IMPROVE

Test what matters, make your app safe to share, put it in front of real people and use their behaviour and feedback to decide what comes next.

By the final page, the goal is not to say: ‘I understand how apps are made.’ It is to say:

‘I built it.’

How the book works

A BOOK BUILT TO BE USED

This isn’t the kind of book you read once and leave on a shelf.
It is designed to stay open beside you while you build.

Work through one Builder Session at a time. Each session moves you forward by one clear step - not ten overwhelming steps at once.

INSIDE EACH SESSION, YOU’LL FIND:

  • A clear outcome for the session
  • A focused lesson written in plain language
  • Practical examples that make the idea easier to understand
  • Builder Missions that turn reading into action
  • Builder Walks that give you space to think
  • Questions that help you make better decisions
  • Principles you can continue using as technology changes

Meet the author

MEET KRISTIAN MARR

Kristian Marr worked full-time as a musician and artist before moving into software design and development.

He now designs, builds and runs apps - and has done it both ways: alongside talented teams and independently, taking his own projects from nothing to something people genuinely use.

His work includes products for hyperlocal discovery and navigation, marketplaces, fintech, modelling and purpose discovery.

Kristian lives in Barcelona with his family and brings art, music and technology together in everything he makes.

WHY I WROTE THIS BOOK

‘I kept hearing the same sentence from people who had never met each other: I’ve had an app idea for years.’

It came from business owners, teachers, parents, artists and ordinary people who understood a real problem - but believed building software belonged to somebody else.

This book exists to challenge that belief.

You do not need to become a programmer before you can begin. You need to understand the problem, make the idea small enough to finish and learn how to work with the tools now available to you.

My hope is that you reach the final page, open your laptop and finally say:

‘I built it.’

The App in Your Head is Kristian Marr’s first book.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CODE?

No. The book was written for people who have an app idea but do not consider themselves technical. You’ll learn how to think clearly, make good decisions and work effectively with AI-assisted tools.

IS THIS A BOOK ABOUT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

Not really. AI appears throughout the building process, but the book focuses on skills that remain useful even when the tools change: understanding problems, choosing the right user, simplifying ideas, testing carefully and learning from real people.

WHAT KIND OF APP WILL I BUILD?

The book focuses primarily on simple web apps - apps that open through a link in a browser on a phone or computer. For a first-time Builder, this is often the shortest route from an idea to something another person can use.

WILL THE BOOK BUILD MY APP FOR ME?

No. AI can help you plan, write and review the work, but you remain responsible for the decisions and the finished product. The book gives you a practical process to follow and helps you avoid the mistakes that stop many first projects.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Work at your own pace. Some Builder Sessions may take ten minutes, while others may take an afternoon. The aim is consistent progress - not rushing through the book.

WILL I NEED TO BUY OTHER SOFTWARE?

You can begin planning with the book and journal alone. When you start building, you may choose to use free or paid AI, coding, hosting or domain services. The exact tools and costs will depend on your project.

WHAT FORMATS WILL I RECEIVE?

The €19 edition includes the complete book as a PDF. The €29 Builder Bundle includes the book PDF, a printable Builder Journal PDF and an editable Builder Journal DOCX.

IS THIS A PHYSICAL BOOK?

No. These are digital products. Nothing will be shipped.

HOW DO I RECEIVE MY FILES?

After your payment is completed, you’ll receive access to your digital files through the order confirmation page and your email receipt.

YOUR APP IDEA HAS WAITED LONG ENOUGH

You do not need to understand everything before you begin.
You do not need the perfect plan.
You do not need to become a programmer.

You need to take the idea out of your head, put it in front of you and work through the next small decision.

Open the book.
Begin the first Builder Session.
Find the problem worth solving.

Then keep moving - one session, one decision and one improvement at a time.

The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is progress.

And by the end, the words you have been waiting to say:

‘I built it.’
